Veolia Environnement, has been named Employer of the Year at the 2008 National Employer Service (NES) Learners First Awards.
Veolia Environnement was singled out for its contribution to workplace learning, beating off fierce competition from the other finalist employers, who included TUI Travel and the Royal Navy. Veolia Environnement’s commitment to training involves its purpose designed and operated training centre, Campus Veolia, as well as a comprehensive programme ensuring that every employee has the possibility of achieving at least a NVQ Level 2. To date, achievements include a number of ‘Train to Gain’ completions and the introduction of Apprenticeships in 2007.
To cap this top award, Veolia Environmental Services were also successful in the ‘Train to Gain’ category. Stuart Borowik, a Driving Skills Assessor from its Bromley contract, took the honours for his activities in not only developing his own skills through the NVQs, but in developing his colleagues’ careers by improving their driving qualifications.
Ronnie Bennett, Managing Director, Campus Veolia Environnement, said: “This recognition means so much to all of us here at Veolia. Development of our people is crucial to the long term advancement of our company as it not only helps create excellence in the service we offer to our clients but also it acts as powerful motivator and reward to our employees.”
